About Domino Park

Máximo Gómez Park — known citywide as Domino Park — is one of Miami's most beloved cultural landmarks, sitting at the corner of SW 8th Street (Calle Ocho) and 15th Avenue in the heart of Little Havana. Open daily from 9 AM to 6 PM and completely free to enter, this small but vibrant outdoor park draws locals and tourists alike to watch intense domino and chess matches under covered shelters.

Membership in the Máximo Gómez Domino Club is free for anyone over 50, and players don't mind an audience. The park's domino-decorated tile walkways and a large mural by Dominican artist Oscar Thomas — depicting the presidents who attended the 1994 Summit of the Americas — add to its historic character.

Adjacent to the Little Havana Paseo de las Estrellas (Walk of the Stars), the park offers a genuine, unscripted window into Cuban-American community life. Wheelchair accessible, with public restrooms and paid parking nearby, it's an essential stop on any Miami cultural itinerary.

The park is most enjoyable during Miami's dry season (October through April) when the outdoor setting is comfortable; summer heat and humidity can make midday visits less pleasant. Sundays are traditionally the most vibrant day for community gatherings and domino play.
