Monterrey Bar

Monterrey Bar is a cocktail lounge tucked inside The Standard Spa, Miami Beach on Venetian Islands, named for the Monterrey Motel that originally stood at 40 Island Avenue in 1953. The small, dimly lit room centers on a T-shaped bar topped with Amazonite stone, with Afromosia wall paneling, plush ocean-toned carpet, and a Murano glass chandelier overhead.

Vinyl records spin most nights, and weekend DJs work entirely in vinyl, moving through hip-hop, soul, funk, and disco from 9pm to midnight. The cocktail menu leans into unique twists on classics like the Sazerac, Vesper martini, and Old Fashioned, paired with elevated bar bites.

Seating is limited to roughly a dozen guests, so the mood stays hushed and conversational rather than loud. Guests have praised the astrological-themed cocktail menu, tarot card readings, and live vocalists that occasionally join the DJ sets.

It's a go-to spot for a quiet date night, a pre-dinner cocktail, or an after-dinner nightcap in South Beach.
